Just a blurb.

My mom is wonderful! She has a TomTom GPS but the vehicle that she is driving right now does not have an adapter that she can plug it in to. Well, she knows that I drive for work and that I end up going to places that can be hard to find. So what does she do? Knowing that my GPS is dead, she sent me hers! I am only borrowing it for a little while, but it is going to make our Reno trip so much easier! My mom is wonderful!

Book List Blog

September 23, 2011 at 1:00 pm (Intro)

A friend of mine, actually an old boss, has a blog you should check out. It’s at http://bjanecarp.wordpress.com/2011/09/23/the-social-media-wars/.

Now, he has a goal that I didn’t hear about until today.  He’s been writing a review of every book that he’s read this year, kinda.  I guess of the 42 books that he’s read, he has reviewed 28 of them.  I started thinking, and this sounds like a good idea, except that I don’t want to wait until January.  So here is what I propose to you: For the next month I will chronicle the books that I read with a list of the title, author, page count, and a description with a rating.

Currently I am reading two books: Lemony Snicket’s The Reptile Room and All We Ever Wanted Was Everything.  I won’t review the books today since I am not finished with them, but I’ll write about them when I am finished.

Happy Reading!

Birthday Wishes, or let’s lighten up a little.

September 15, 2011 at 7:29 pm (Intro)

Hubs has a birthday coming up.  His party is on the 24th, and his actual birthday is on the 29th.  I love birthdays, so I’ve got to be honest, I have been planning like mad for this!  We’ve invited 24 people to our 700 sq foot apartment (good thing only 15 or so are coming!).  We have friends of his from high school, friends from college, church buddies, and some members of his family all coming!  This will be so much fun.  The theme of the party is games and we will have darts, Scene-It, Jenga, and other games out.  Also, we are going to have all of his favorite foods: taco salad, chicken pesto pasta salad, pulled pork sandwiches, veggie sticks, chips and salsa, lots of good stuff.  To drink, all he wanted was Cream Soda, but I convinced him to add iced tea and water.

Now, let’s talk about what he DOESN’T know…He agreed to take the day after his birthday off so that we would have a 3 day weekend, and with that, I am taking him to…..RENO!  We’re less than 4 hours away and it’ll be a relatively short drive.

So what are we going to do?  We’re going to have a fun night at a super cheezy hotel in Tahoe for the first night, just hanging out by ourselves.  The next day we will make the super brief drive into Reno where will stay at the Circus Circus and go see Hairspray that night.  It looks like it’ll be as good as the Broadway show, and since we both love the movie, the live musical should be every better!  It’ll be fun to have a night to dress up and have private time just for ourselves.  On Sunday we will get to sleep in and have a leisurely drive home.

What do y’all think?  Since I cannot tell Hubs all about this (it would kill the surprise factor) it’s such a relief to scribble it all out here.

Still Alive, or When to Try Again

September 14, 2011 at 10:08 pm (Intro)

This is just to let you know that I am still alive.  Life has been nuts, but at least I am back to work after a weekend in the hospital and two weeks further at home, not allowed to work.

Hubs has been an angel lately, and today marks 40 days since we lost our Ducky.  Hopefully, we will get to try again soon.  We had our post miscarriage follow-up 4 weeks ago, and will have an appointment to follow up on my cyst in 2 more weeks.  Hopefully the doctor will give us permission to try again on our next cycle instead of waiting 2 full cycles.

I don’t know if I will be mentally and emotionally ready to try again, but I want to be allowed to try if we do decide that we are ready.

Any words of advice folks?
