So, it’s 5:30 a.m. and I’m just hanging out, not up to anything special this 23rd of December…oh wait, that’s not quite right!

I’m at the hospital!

We started the induction process last night.  When I came in, I was 1 cm dilated, and since then have had 2 rounds of misoprostyl, a cerival softener.  I went from 0 contractions to having them semi-regularly, every 7-10 minutes, maybe more frequently at this point.  I’m not in a lot of pain, but I do have an IV in each arm which is not comfortable.  I’ve only slept about 1 1/2 hours, but Hubs is getting some rest, and I’ll try to dose more later.  My mom made it to the Bay Area yesterday and is at our apartment getting some sleep. She’ll be here through Wednesday morning and has already threatened to call in sick if she needs to be here longer.

My diabetes is acting up a little, but one of the IV’s is a combo drip of insulin and glucose, designed to keep it stable.  I did have to go about 8 hours without eating at one point, and that just sucked! If my contractions become more regular, we’ll move to pitocin after 6 a.m., but I’m figuring we’ll do another round of Miso first, and not start Pit until 10 a.m.  or shortly thereafter.

Anyways, all of this to say that we get to meet our daughter sometime between now and possibly Monday night!  Yay!!!  God is so good to us to take us this far!

Perhaps a final update.

December 16, 2012 at 5:40 pm (Intro)

As of today I am 38 weeks pregnant!  We have an induction scheduled for Saturday, this Saturday, as in only 6 days from now!!! I can’t believe that this pregnancy is nearly over and in just a few days we will be meeting our little girl.  During the last week, we’ve had 2 spooky NST’s, so I cannot help but be excited that it’s all almost done.

On Monday our doctor told us that he was concerned that there wasn’t enough fluid around LO.  We had an appointment on Tuesday that showed everything was fine.  Okay, bullet dodged.

On Thursday, LO had an irregular resting heartbeat and wasn’t moving around enough.  A half hour appointment turned into an hour and a half appointment, but by the time the doctor was done with a very long ultrasound and me staying on the monitors for quite a while, all was said to be a-okay.  Wheeew.

We have another NST tomorrow, after which we have a doctor’s appointment.  If something abnormal shows up tomorrow, I may ask them to move up the induction date from Saturday to earlier this week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

Well, that’s all I’ve got so far.  I’ll try to update at least once more this week, just letting you all know how things are going..

Update: Tomorrow is full term

December 8, 2012 at 12:19 pm (Intro)

As of midnight tonight, we will be considered full-term, 37 weeks.  We have a tentative induction date set for December 22nd, but on Monday we will find out if we need to move it up by a few days. Little Girl is not measuring too big or too little, rather, just right.  If she keeps growing at her current rate, she should be born weighing between 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 pounds.

I got to peek at her 4 times this week! Every Non-Stress Test (NST) means a quick U/S as they verify her position, plus I had my regular check up on Monday and we had our final growth U/S on Wednesday. This means I got to see Little GIrl twice on Monday, once on Wednesday, and once on Thursday.  Wednesday’s U/S showed that she’s going to have hair! It’s a silly little thing, but I was hoping she’d have at least a little fuzz.

I think she’s starting to get a little impatient.  All morning she has been moving like mad. I laid in bed an extra 20 minutes, just feeling her rock and roll.  Plus, she’s been wiggling like mad for most of the last hour.  I am betting she’s getting pretty cramped right now and would like a little more room.

Hubs is out of town until either late tonight or mid-afternoon tomorrow, so nothing big can happen today, but after he’s back, any day is fair game!

Speaking of Hubs…guess who got a promotion at work this week?!?!? It’s actually a trick question, because we both did! It’s been a wonderful week, and things are really moving along.  I’m not on leave yet, but I am setting my own part-time schedule, just filling in where I am needed at work.

That’s all I’ve got so far folks.  Send me a note and let me know how December is treating you, now that it’s already 1/4 over!

Proof that “He’s the One!”

December 4, 2012 at 12:07 am (Intro) (, , )

Sorry I’ve been pretty absent lately; work is keeping me absolutely hopping!  Tomorrow is the second day of my maternity leave, but I’m still going in for about 10 hours.  I think I need to reconsider the definition of “Maternity Leave,” specifically the “Leave” part.

Anyways, in 15 short days, Hubs and I will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary.  He has been such a trooper these 3 years, and especially these last 9 months during pregnancy.  As our anniversary approaches, I want to offer a few insights.

How you know you married the right guy:

1) He finds out that you call him Hubs online and takes to calling himself that around the house.

2) He randomly talks to your belly and reads it newspaper articles (if you are not pregnant, this may be something to be concerned about).

3) He knows you want to hop online in the morning, so he turns the computer on before starting to make his breakfast.

4) You work together and he tells you that he was sad when he came back to the office and realized you weren’t there.

5) He’s genuinely happy that you bought yourself a new purse (bonus points if you paid $13 and it was originally $80).

6) He notices that when you wake up in the middle of the night and goes to find you to make sure you are okay.

7) He hides how annoyed he is at waiting 2 hours at a doctor’s office because he knows you are annoyed too and doesn’t want to add to your stress.

8) He tells you to rest and put your feet up while he vacuums.

9) He is willing to get up extra early every Sunday to run powerpoint for church, and doesn’t complain about staying late to accompany you to a meeting afterwards.

10) He doesn’t want you to go out and get him medicine late at night, even though he’s not feeling good, but admits that he would do it for you in a heartbeat.

I’m blessed folks. That’s all there is to it.  And I know he going to be an amazing dad when Little One arrives in less than 3 weeks.
